This information applies to the following FLORIDA courses:

Is this the Drug & Alcohol Course?

Yes, this course is known by many different names, among which are “Drug & Alcohol,” “DATA,” “DATE,” and “TLSAE.” This is the 4-hour course that is required for all first-time drivers in Florida.

How long is the course, and is there a final exam?

The course takes about 4 hours to complete. You can take it at your own pace online. There is also a final exam. It consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, and you must answer 40 correctly to pass.

Is the final exam the same as the Permit Test?

No, the Permit Test, or written test, also known as the Road Rules and Road Signs exam, is separate from the TLSAE final exam. It is also required to get a permit or license in Florida.

I only want to take the Drug & Alcohol test, not the 4-hour course. Is that possible?

No, to take the test, you are required to take the 4-hour course first.

When and how will I get my certificate of completion?

You will be able to download your certificate immediately after passing the final exam. It will include a confirmation number.

What if my record is not found when I apply for my permit?

If your record of TLSAE course completion is not found, please contact us right away. Our customer support team can assist with resubmitting your record or making changes to it if needed.
