Simple steps to make driving for Uber or Lyft more profitable

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the workplace dynamic considerably.  Once upon a time, it was common for employees to drive to an office, sit in their cubicles and at least try to look busy until 5 pm.  Today, millions of Americans have made the adjustments to work remotely or independently.

One of the easiest ways to work independently is through ridesharing.  This could be in the form of Lyft or Uber, Door Dash, or Postmates.  Let’s be honest, while independence has its advantages there are without question challenges that must be successfully navigated.

An undefined schedule.  A fixed schedule for many can increase productivity and consistency but this is not always possible when ridesharing or delivering food.  Being adaptable and flexible can help to overcome this challenge.  However, at times there can be pressure to push your limits and drive when getting tired.  Drowsy driving is nearly as dangerous as driving under the influence.  Being modest, or even taking reasonable time to rest while reducing the risks and dangers.

Insurance rates.  Most auto insurance providers base rates on usage, driving history, and the value of the vehicle being insured.  Make no mistake, if you are using your vehicle to deliver food or transport passengers, you will need specific endorsements to properly insure yourself.  Simply not telling them will not benefit you should there be an incident.

Driving History.  No one is perfect.  But the more moving violations or accidents one has on their driving record will without question affect the cost of their insurance premiums, and in some cases disqualify them from ridesharing altogether.

How NHSA can help:

Our online auto insurance discount courses are designed to meet state required curriculum to qualify for an insurance reduction.  Depending on your state and insurance company a few hours spent online taking the course is well worth the savings on your policy premiums.

Our basic driver safety courses or ticket dismissal courses are designed to meet state requirements to remove points from a driver’s license.  This too can keep your insurance rates as low as possible and prevent an increase should you receive a violation.

At NHSA, our goal is to provide online driver education courses that equip all drivers with what they need to be safe drivers.  Whether you are a teen seeking a learner’s permit, or an adult driver seeking a basic driver safety course, check us out online to see what courses are available in your state!
